I have been using kermit to call in to the school because of the 80 column display on the c64. However, kermit transfers are very slow and I have only seen one BBS that has kermit protocol. All my terminal programs that support xmodem and punter are only 40 column though. Can anyone suggest, if such a thing exists, a terminal program that has an 80 column display and supports xmodem and/or punter protocol? Thanks in advance. Werewolf

Long ago I downloaded and used a good program called "Electric Cottage" from QuantumLink - it was shareware and supported both protocols named above (and was a good fast xmodem). I expect that it is still available on Qlink (I just don't belong there anymore). The only drawback to this very nice program is that it is a 'dumb' 80 column terminal - no protocol like vt100 supported. It also includes some very nice features like buffer capture/send/load/save (with text editor), conversion of BASIC text to PRG format. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- "We know only the strong will survive, But the meek will inherit. Thanks in advance. > Werewolf Two good terminal programs that I know of and meet your specification are CBterm6.7 and Novaterm9.0. CBterm6.7 support both punter and xmodem and partial VT52 Novaterm9.0 support punter, xmodem and ymodem and support VT52 and VT100 (but to get VT100 module you need to contact the author). The novaterm9.0 can be gotten from Milton FTP-site. For CBterm6.7, send me an e-mail. By the way, does anyone know if it is okay to put CBterm6.7 in an FTP site? Sincerely, Scott K. Stephen

There is an excellent Terminal Program called Novaterm 9.0 for the Commodore 64/128. It supports many different modems and 2400/1200/300 baud. It supports Xmodem, Xmodem-1K, Ymodem Batch, Punter, and multifile Punter. It's terminal emulations are: ANSI(80 Columns), vt-52(80 columns), and the standard ASCII/Petscii(C= Color/Graphics). It's a very versatile program, and it has multiple fonts in normal 40 columns, and has IBM and it's own Novaterm fonts. Included with the program(ran after loading the main program) are a font creator so you can make your own fonts, a Script file compiler, and a couple of other programs which I've not yet tested to see what they do. Novaterm 9.0 is the best PD/Shareware Terminal program I've found. It can be downloaded from a bbs near me called 'The Magnetic Bottle' at 814-231-1345 or 814-231-1346. It has three separate .SDA files and takes approximately 30 minutes at 1200 baud. It would be well worth the d/l time and credits, if you can find it in town(the earlier 8.2 version had a lot of bugs in it, but can also be used if you can find that version near you...) Windrider
