I have been playing around with a terminal program and adding provisions to play sampled sounds on a custom escape sequence. I have had loads of problems attempting to get SOUND player code to work within the terminal code. (I don't understand why, but it works fine seperate, but it always FRYS when I convert the programs into functions and use them, ALTHOUGH it does work when I link the functions into a TEST program that makes calls to them) So, What I am asking here is if anyone has some C code to play sounds directly from the disk. Let me explain. I may have to play some VERY long samples within the program, BUT I do not have the memory to load them into. (I'm on a stock 512k machine) So I want a program that can interactively load small blocks of a larger file and play (Much like the PLAYSS on the DW disk utility. Manx C source if preferable, although if someone were to send me a binary to a player like the above mentioned I vould do a fexecv to it. Please don't send me sound.c or play8svx. I currently have those, and am using play8svx at the moment, but I really need what i described above. If you have it, and have the time, please uuencode and mail it to me.
