[comp.sys.cbm] JammonCollection --- new file at Milton

scott@max.u.washington.edu (11/01/90)

The JammonCollection was sent to me last summer via "real" mail by
Ronald van Loon from the Netherlands for the Milton-FTP site. But
to to unforseeable delays and tidious archiving, its placing had been
delayed till now. My apologies goes out to Ronald. I hope you had
a nice trip to the States :-)

Sincerely,
Scott K. Stephen

The following is the .readme file that you will find along with the
Jammon package in the subdirectory: "public/download/c64current/sound"

What are the JammonCollections?
===============================

The JammonCollections are a bunch of music-files, all arranged and composed by
me, Ronald van Loon (rloon@praxis.cs.ruu.nl), which do not just use the
regular three voices of the C64/128's SID-chip, but 5 voices. The two extra
voices are digital ones, and are used to create drum-sounds. Note : no extra
hardware necessary.

All the music in the collections has been created with the Soundmonitor (TM),
written by Chris Huelsbeck, and all drum tracks have been created with the
Jammonitor, written by me, based on an original idea of BNA of The Electronic
Knights.

The Jammoncollections were written because of my natural laziness of typing
SYS-calls when showing my music to other people. I had developed a windowing
system for the C64 by the time, and some routines to display SoundMon-Music
with LEDs. I threw it all together, and here it is....

Files in milton
===============

The entire Jammon package was divided into sections and archived into
convenient, manageable size, SDA files. After downloading all these files to
the C64, to de-archive them, simply load and run each of the SDA files
in the proper order and in the proper side of the diskettes.

The Jammon package consists of the following parts and their corresponding
files as you will find in Milton:

The Jammon main programs occupy one side of the diskette. This side of the
    diskette contains the sound programs mentioned above, Jammonitor
    and Soundmonitor, that were used to write the sample music files
    in the JammonCollections

    jamsounda.sda, jamsoundb.sda, jamsoundc.sda

The JammonCollection1 occupy two side of the diskette (if you are using
    only one side then two diskettes). Make sure to de-archive the SDA files
    in the proper side, because the loader in side one will make references
    to the files found in side two. The JammonCollection contains sample
    music files that were written using Soundmonitor and Jammonitor by
    Ronald van Loon himself. And they do an excellent job in exhibiting
    the musical capabilities of the two programs.

    jamcol1-s1a.sda, jamcol1-s1b.sda, jamcol1-s2a.sda, jamcol1-s2b.sda

The JammonCollection2 occupy two side of the diskette (if you are using
    only one side then two diskettes). Make sure to de-archive the SDA files
    in the proper side, because the loader in side one will make references
    to the files found in side two.

    jamcol2-s1a.sda, jamcol2-s1b.sda, jamcol2-s2a.sda, jamcol2-s2b.sda

How to Run
==========

Load the program called "jammoncollection"; "RUN" it ; everything else should
be self explanatory. Make sure you installed the files on the right side of
the disk, as the program will prompt you for it (Insert collection disk side
one).

Enjoy!
