I just picked up a used C64 for grins, and am trying to get it working. It came with a 1541 disk drive (I thought it was an aircraft carrier at first), an HES Sound Box, and a Commodore Music Composer cartridge. There are power cables for both the C64 and the 1541, and the power lights come on when the units are switched on. There is no cable to connect the C64 and the disk drive. There is a cable that looks sort of like a modified stereo cable that I guess might be the video cable since there doesn't seem to be one of those. Basically my questions are these: 1) how much are the disk drive and video cables likely to cost? 2) what does the Sound Box do? (Does it also work as a monitor cable?) 3) what will the Music Composer cartridge do for me? Is it used with games? 4) since this machine didn't come with any disks, what is the best way to equip this machine with minimal software (especially a comm program with upload/download capability)? (Are there any FTP sites with C64 software archives Any other information concerning how to get started with this machine and any recommendations about upgrades would be very much appreciated. Thanks, - Allen
