[comp.sys.cbm] ftp sites

victor_e@jhunix.HCF.JHU.EDU (Victor G Epand) (04/12/90)

I have finally managed to transfer some programs from some FTP sites down to the JHUNIX machine. Only problem is that I only have Crcxmodem and punter, while JHUNIX only has Checksum xmodem and Kermit. How can I transfer the programs to my C128? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also if anyone knows of a BBS in the Baltimore area that supports crcxmodem or punter I would be greatful to hear of it.
Thanks

I tried to e-mail this to someone, but the mail decided not to work, so
I'm posting it.

You log in to ftp's them by typing 'anonymous' at the login name.

It will then either tell you to type 'ident' for the password,
or tell you to type you e-mail address as the password.
(I would type at Password: xvj@mentor.cc.purdue.edu )

You then can upload/download stuff.

Make sure that you have the ftp set at binary file transer mode, or you may get
problems.

When I get time, I will post a complete guide as to how to download programs
and other things from ftp sites and get them to run on a c64/c128.
