[comp.sys.cbm] NX1000C printers... any good?

joystyk@clmqt.marquette.Mi.US (Joystyk) (12/06/90)

I am considering buying either an NX1000C or an NX1000C Rainbow... Can
anyone tell me what is good or bad about these printers?
Are they of good quality? I don't need it for anything to do with
business, but I may be using it for school quite a bit, and just general
home printing (I also want to print the DOCS to the VI editor!)...
 Any recommendations would be appreciated.
The main reason I am looking into buy one of these two printers is their
price... I'm only 15, and they seem to be within my price range... Thanks
in advance...

I got the NX1000C for Christmas last year, and I like it...... the NLQ
feature is really *great*! I use it with GEOS, but haven't found a driver
for it (have been using the NX 10C driver, which is slow, but works ok) for
the GEOS fonts.

The NX1000C is a decent printer for its price. I bought one two years ago for 149.95 I have not had any major problem with it except for a blown out LED indicator light. I would not recommend the NX1000C Rainbow. Although I never had color printer, I feel that a 9-pin color printer is not the best quality. If you really WANT a color printer, go for a laser or a 24-pin, they are much faster and have better resolution.

One thing you might want to keep in mind: Check your local dealers and make sure they do service the NX1000C because it's a pain in the butt trying to ship a defected printer in for service.
