I would like to second the endorsement for the Aprotek C24 modem. It handles 2400 baud quite nicely on most term progs. However certain ones can't handle the 2400 baud without having fits. One is the kermit v2.2 program for the 64. This is supposedly due to Commodore's wonderful built in rs232 routines.. A fix to allow kermit65 to work at 2400 baud with no problem is available at milton.u.washington.edu via ftp. I'm working on a ml loader for the thing.. I think we owe our friend in germany who wrote the fix a big hand. Kermit *does* handle the vt100 emulation fine, though it's much harder on the eyes than VIP term's 80 cols., but VIP doesn't work at 2400 baud. Novaterm is the best way to go for normal bbs'ing. Mainframe connections with the new version will have to wait until you can change to 7E1. I own the Aprotek Minimodem C24... I think it was well worth it... However, I don't know anything of how it works on C64's because I use it only with my C128 with DesTerm v2.00.... It is a good modem, I've had NO problems whatsoever. -- joystyk@clmqt.marquette.Mi.US / Luposlipaphobia: the fear of being pursued Trebor Sux CBM rules / by timber wolves around a kitchen table I love ADL / while wearing socks on a newly waxed floor
