[comp.sys.cbm] ASCII text to basic program

nrossi@jarthur.Claremont.EDU (Nick Rossi) (12/09/90)

Not too long ago there was a thread running here about converting an ASCII
textfile with basic program lines into a runnable basic program. I seem to
remember some simple solution being posted but I don't remeber what it was...
now, I need it!

Can anyone re-post this information?

To Nick: I use a utility called "Power 64" that allows you to use an "exec"
command to "run" a text file from the disk. I believe "sysres" also has
this feature, along with a few PD routines floating around on the networks
these days. It simply takes a seq file from the disk as if it were typed
into the computer, entering the lines as they are listed on the screen,
thus making them into a BASIC program. Hope this helps. Dumb question,
by the way, I just started using the network features here, and have no
idea how to show which message you are responding to. Seeing the headers
on responses makes me sure that there is a command of some sort to enter
ththe original post header, etc.. could someone tell me how to do this?
Thanks!

Another way to do ASCII to PETSCII conversion is with Randy Winchester's
KeyDos utility, which I believe can be found at milton. It allows you
to copy a file translating in either direction.
