With the recent talk about the viability of 2400 baud speed on Kermit 2.x, for your interest and verification, a version of Kermit with 2400 speed patch has been placed on Milton. Enjoy. The following is a copy of "kermit2p2sp.doc" on Milton that accompanies "kermit2.2sp": ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "kermit2.2sp" is only the main executional part of the Kermit 2.2 terminal-prg package that has been incorporated with Uwe Horn's speed patch program which will allow this terminal program to operate at 2400 baud rate on the C64. Also some compression has been made on its physical size for a faster loading. To use this file, first you need to download it to the C64, then rename it as "kermit" and replace it with the old one. Sincerely, Scott K. Stephen This file was summitted by Frank Prindle. Thanks goes out to him. ------------ Here is kermit 2.2 with the German (Uwe Horn) speed patch (sp.prg) recently discussed on comp.sys.cbm already patched in,then compressed with TIMECRUNCH V5 so it loads from only a 75 block file (whoopie, faster downloading and faster loading). I haven't got a 2400 baud modem, so cannot confirm or deny it's ability to run 2400 baud on a vanilla C64, but I suspect this is true because the patch improves 1200 baud performance on my oldest C64 where it never used to work without an occasional error beep. Posted messages seem to indicate that it indeed does work well with 2400 baud. Sincerely, Frank Prindle (U.S.A)
