Hello....I got a quicky question about Desterm 2.00. While no doubt, it is an excellent terminal program, I am unable to use it on my C128 with GEOram plugged in the expansion port. I also have a freind who has a C128 and a Stereo Sid cartridge. Like previously, the program also crashes if the cartridge is in place. I have tried selecting the 'Leave REU alone' from one of the menus (don't recall which), but the same thing happens. Does anyone else have the same problem??? I am also wondering if their is a patch available that might correct this problem. Also, what is the site name/number for that Milton FTP site I've been reading so much about???? Thanx! ---Mike

Hi There: DesTerm attempts to autodetect the presence of either the SwiftLink- 232 or HART serial cartridges. Detection of the HART is foolproof, but certain other hardware devices will fool DesTerm2.00 into thinking a swiftlink available. This doesn't crash the machine as such, it just means that DesTerm starts sending the init-string but waits forever for the transmit holding register to clear. I know the stereo sid causes this problem, but GEOram is a new one on me... I think (as of yet unverified) that I have come up with a better way of verifying a SwiftLink-232, so in later versions, this problem will go away. For the moment, simply disconnect the stereo sid cart or GEOram as appropriate -- neither is used by DesTerm anyway.
