[comp.sys.cbm] What is an .sda file?

tjlee@iastate.edu (Tom Lee) (01/26/91)

	I'm trying to retrieve some files from Milton via FTP, and I've run
across .sda files. What do I do with these, does somebody know? I've used
Kermit to download them to my C64, and ARC appears to be looking for .arc
files.

.SDA files are Self Dissolving Archives. The are ARC's with an "SDA header"
on the front. What this means is that the one .SDA file contains one or more
files crunched and archived together with ARC. To dissolve it, all you have
to do is load it into your computer like a normal program and run it: it will
automatically dissolve itself.

.SFX files are a similar concept, only created with a different archive
program.

   .sda = Self Dissolving Archive.

   LOAD and RUN 'em.

 ... and pass this info on, someone asks that question here every other week.
