Many thanks to those that responded concerning my requests for info on used c64 cartridges, and info about the c64's serial interface. I've resolved the cartridge issue (I sold the keyboard and the floppy drive, in lieu of trying to amass yet more software for a machine I don't really have any legitimate use for), and technical info concerning the serial I/O for the printer is now coming in.
