First, let me thank everyone that helped me with this problem. I
greatly appreciate your assistance.
(This happens to be the second time writing this post, since I was
cut-off while writing this the first time).
As you can tell, I have solved the problem with RUN's 1581 Bootmaker
program on the GEOS Companion disk and on Q-Link. Originally, when I
first had this problem (I booted GEOS on the 1581 disk, but the system
crashed after completely booting, reporting a system error messge), I
attributed it to GEOWIZARD. So I removed the autoexec file off the
bootdisk and rebooted. However, this didn't solve the problem. After
talking with a number of people from this newsgroup and with Tim Walsh
of RUN Magazine, I tried numerous times to recreate a 1581 bootdisk,
with no success.
Just today, I decided to give it one more try. I booted GEOS off my
1571 disk. Strangely during boot, GEOWIZARD reported that it couldn't
install itself since there wasn't enough memory in the REU (which was
not the case, but apparently it made a mistake). At that moment I
realized that having GEOWIZARD installed could be the cause of my
troubles. Leaving it uninstalled, I went ahead and created a 1581
bootdisk. Sure enough I was able to boot GEOS off this new bootdisk
without ANY problems! GEOWIZARD makes some modifications to GEOS that
are not properly handled by the 1581 bootmaker (128 version).
Please make a note of this incompatibilty. GEOWIZARD will work fine
AFTER you have created the new bootdisk. It autoexecs upon boot
without problems. HOWEVER, in order to use the 1581 bootmaker, you
CANNOT have GEOWIZARD installed!
I was lucky that this finally worked. My 1571 disk drive is VERY close
to going out of alignment (AGAIN!). It might not have been able to
boot GEOS another time.
