I have yet to get a file up and running using the zip-unzip program! The program will not accept the name of the file when it is listed in the encryptd form: 1!filename, 2!filename, etc. The only way I have been able to get the program to run is to provide the filename '*' at the prompt for the filename to unzip. The program then runs and starts to unzip the file(s), but then stops and hangs after 100 to 150 blocks of writing. I have no docs, any ideas? Kirk A. Janowiak XWUU@PURCCVM

Peters, but I have not seen it available for downloading anywhere. Part of the problem is that Zip-Code is encoded on the disk in such a way that you need to have Zip-Code in order to send or receive the program. Rather self-defeating, wouldn't you say? But be aware that the Zip/Unzip program that you see around is only a small subest of the full Zip-Code, which includes full documentation. Now then, how to use Zip-Code...the program requires two disks at all times, one for reading, one for writing. When zipping a disk, the entire disk is read, sector by sector, packed, and written to four files, with 1!, 2!, 3!, 4! added to the filename. When unzipping, these four PRG files must be present on the source disk (or, if they are large, they can be put on more than one disk). The destination disk WILL be formatted, so it must be blank, or have unneeded data. When you want to unzip, you must type the name of the set of files, without the numbers. So if you have files called "1!FURBALLS", etc., then when asked for the source filename, type "FURBALLS", and the program will figure out the rest. One noted problem with Zip-Code is that it can have problems when the zipped files have been padded out, say, via Xmodem. There are ways to remove Xmodem padding, in fact, some terminal programs have this ability. Need more info? I might have it somewhere... -- David DeSimone, aka "Fuzzy Fox" on some networks. /!/!
