I have a commodore 1581 3 1/2 inch drive here with the new 1772
controller chip installed for sale.

Tip top condition, with all original documentation and demo disk.

I am asking $225.00 for the drive with PS and serial cable.

I'm sorry, but you can get those cheaper NEW. I think the going price mail
order is either $189 or $169.....

Yes, you do see ads for them, but try to find a company that has one in
stock. I paid $269 for it three years ago,

You are not going to sell it for that price!

1581 drive - in stock - local Toys-R-Us ...$219

I bought a 1581 from Toys `r' Us. Drive mechanism was busted. So I returned
it for another one which was also busted. The way the stock room was handling
them (I could see through a window when I got the second one) its no wonder.
They didn't seem to realize a disk drive is more delicate than a basketball.

So, I drove 45 minutes out of my way to the only Commodore dealer left in the
state of Arizona who sells C-64 stuff and got a working 1581. I love it.

Moral: don't trust a toy store with a real toy.
