[comp.sys.cbm] Can you still buy a 1581 drive?

I wonder, if you can still buy a 1581 drive (I prefer buying
one in the Netherlands). If it is, what's is price nowadays?
What are the advantages of the 1581 compared to the 1571, and
runs CP/M 3.0 with this drive?

Geert.

It is *very* hard to find 1581 drives at all any more. I had one, and
just sold it for $175.00. You see ads for them in magazines occasionally,
but the companies are all out of stock. Commodore is not making them any
longer, and the controller chips (1770 and 1772) have both been
discontinued by the manufacturers. There may be a few scattered in some
stores somwhere, but they are getting scarce.
