[comp.sys.cbm] problems with 80-column mode on a 128

A couple of weeks ago, I finally got the 64k video memory expansion kit
from SSI for my old c128. The first time I tried to install it, I guess I
didn't get it pushed in all the way, and I had no 80-columns. I was very
surprised, and was afraid I had blown up my video chip. But finally, on
the third attempt, I I got it to work. Now, unfortunately, after the
computer has been on for about 10 minutes, the entire 80-column screen
goes blank. Usually, I can get the screen back for a little while, but
then eventually the screen will become completly garbled and full of noise.
This is very annoying, and I would like to know why my computer does that,
and what I can do to make it stop doing that. I hope I didn't blow my
video chip, those are kinda expensive to replace.

Once again, I also am having the same problem, only I don't have the 64k.
It doesn't always happen, but when it does it is very annoying. The rest of
the computer is still working if you can type in the dark. Please direct
any comments/solutions my way also. Thanks.

Check to make sure the video chip is properly seated... it sounds like
it *may* be loose in the socket.
