I want to format disks to IBM format on my 1541 drive. Is this possible?

Please Email or post any replies.

Thank you.

No. Unfortunately, the 1541 only recognizes the GCR format. IBM disks use
the MFM format. So there's no way you can format disks with your 1541.

The 1571 can use BOTH GCR and MFM formats because it has a MFM controller
built-in at adress $2000.

Whenever you use a program like Big Blue Reader or CP/M, the 1571 uses
the controller to read and write to a disk in MFM format.
