[comp.sys.cbm] RS-232 Schematic Available - FREE

stephenc@tekcae.CAX.TEK.COM (Stephen Coan) (05/07/91)

Back in 1983, I designed an interface to RS-232 for the C64. It uses three
IC's, 1488, 1489, and a 7404. It uses a few additional capacitors and
diodes to generate the +/- voltages necessary for operation with RS-232.
This schematic shows connections for both DTE and DCE depending upon how
you wire it, and includes TX, RTS, DTR, RX, DSR, CTS and DCD signals. I
have sent this to half a dozen or so people over the years, posted it here
twice previously, and am happy to ship it out. It prints out on a printer
in ASCII Graph style.

Anyone interested, drop me a line and I'll gladly forward a copy to you.
I'm just posting this rather than the schematic itself to limit the size of
the posting. The file is less than 9K in size.
