[comp.sys.cbm] c64 revA, 12V supply

jung@Einstein.Physics.Buffalo.EDU (Alexander Jung) (05/12/91)

Hi!
I just stumbled across this group and hope that I can find some people that can
help me... My problem is as follows:
I have an C64 Rev.A (<= old circuit board!, european version PAL-video!) and
put a whole lot of work and money into it some years ago (256K on board,
several ROM's, a own Paralell-speeder to my 1541...).
After I changed to my new computer (Acorn Archimedes A440) I wanted to put the
whole stuff in one single case, because the '64 had spread out considerably on
my desk.
So I bought a IBM-PC case (don't flame me on this, it was the cheapest one)
and a switched power supply from the sale-out of the CBM610's.
The mechanic part was not to hard (did you know that the mainboard is just a
little bit bigger than a full IBM slot card?), but I think I broke something
while modifying the boards for 12V/5V supply.
Now here are my questions:
- is there something else that the cia-clock driven by the 9V AC?
- how can I scope (with a dual beam scope) whether the processor does
  its reset?
(Error description: screen initialises to black, sometimes it does the video
reset (blue border& background), but then only garbage
                      fills the screen.)
- where can I get spare parts: CPU,VIC, Rams, 256Kx1 Rams, rev A Motherboards?

Please help me and my old ill '64

                Alexander
