A friend has an early Rainbow, and would like to use it to
communicate with a Unix box. Is there a terminal emulator
that I may retrieve from public domain? Since the Rainbow
uses a VT-100 terminal, is an emulator really all the necessary?
[I suppose I could RS-232 it, and use the port switch, but this
seems pretty limited - no wallpapering, etc.].
Please respond by e-mail, if you will. Thanks.

As I remember, the rainbow startup menu has a choice T to just act as a terminal -- as such it's a vt102 compatible. There's a serial port on the back of the machine to do this. If you send me an rx50 and return postage, I'll see what I can do about getting you a couple versions of kermit for the machine. You'd probably get z19 emulation, and definitely file transfer.
