As is the case at any DECUS symposium people are running or walking between sessions. Most are walking with their heads down, still taking notes from the last session, talking with somebody regarding the merits of UNIX vs. VMS, attempting to memorize some important bit of information picked-up in a discussion with another symposium attendee, complaining about All-In-One or the demise of 36-bit systems. In this state of mind I can see how a person could pass up a chance at losing money at a crap table. (seven-yo-leven, baby needs a new MS62A-AB/RV!!) A friend of mine told me the a TRUE story regarding the last time DECUS was held in Las Vegas. He was walking between sessions talking with some fellow attendees. They were on the street and a young women walked up and asked them if they wanted to "party". My friend smiled and said "no thank you" and continued to walk and talk. The women stomped down her foot and said "What hell is it with you computer types! Don't you ever have fun." He proceeded to discuss stand-alone backup procedures with her. :^) Please send any DECUS/Las Vegas stories to....... Douglas Brantley, Cerritos College, 11110 E.
