We are having a problem getting Apple's MacX utility to communicate with a DEC VAX host. Our configuration is: - VAX 6220 running VMS V5.3-1 (DECwindows version 2) - Wollongong WINTCP version 5.1 running on the VAX - MacX on MAC IIcx running MacTCP We have installed the image SYS$SHARE:DECW$TRANSPORT_WINTCP.EXE on the VAX. (Note: This VAX is not a workstation so SYS$MANAGER:DECW$PRIVATE_SERVER_SETUP does not get executed at boot time so the transport image must be installed explicitly) We have set the security for a user as WINTCP * *. In the Mac remote command we have tried two things. One to execute the following file on the VAX to start the DECwindow clock. Fantasia is the Apple node. $ SET DISPLAY/CREATE/TRANS=WINTCP/NODE=FANTASIA $ RUN SYS$SYSTEM:DECW$CLOCK Two, just execute the command RUN SYS$SYSTEM:DECW$CLOCK. Both times we get the command output message from MacX... ou need EUNICE to use. We can probably ignore the missing Y in you. The point is we cannot start a DECwindows application on the VAX 6220 and have it display on the Mac. Wollongong tells us we don't need EUNICE (which we don't have). Wollongong says the Mac is setup incorrectly. Mac says TCP on the VAX isn't responding correctly and we have WIN/TCP setup incorrectly. HELLLLLLP!?!?!?!
