Attention VMS and Ultrix Users!!! New Mexico DECUS is for you! NM DECUS 1991 March 6, 7, 8 Holiday Inn Pyramid Albuquerque, New Mexico The NM Regional Digital Equipment Corporation Users' Society (DECUS) Conference is a gathering of professionals from all walks of life who use Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) machines to do their jobs. Your fellow DEC users will be meeting and presenting papers that cover "A Duke's Mixture" of topics related to using DEC computers, such as Intro-to-Advanced VMS, ULTRIX, and UNIX; applications software including MUMPS and ALL-IN-1; Using TPU; X Windows and using/managing work stations; Project Management; Hardware Environment; the DECUS Tape Library; DEC's Educational Software Library; online information, networking, connectivity and security to name a few. o We need your help! Since the conference is for you, we would like to ask your help. If you have an idea for a topic that is of interest to you or a workshop that you would like to attend, please contact me or submit your ideas within our online NM DECUS information service (See how to "make the connection" to nmdecus@technet.nm.org below.) o Plan to be there! On March 6, the day before the conference, several all-day, intensive workshops will be offered. The conference will be held on March 7-8 in Albuquerque at the Holiday Inn Pyramid. For a detailed description of the workshops and the speakers, please check them out in our online conference information bulletin board. (See below on how to dial-in or telnet to this service!) o Registration fees The registration fee for an all-day workshop is $100. The registration fee for the the two-day conference is $95. o Give a little, get a lot The 1991 NM Regional Digital Equipment Corporation Users' Society (DECUS) Conference is only a few snowstorms away and we're busy planning a great program. With a little help, this will be a super program! The heart of any DECUS conference is user presentations. They determine what impression you are left with when the conference is over. And those who consistently give the best presentations are ordinary folks like us, users who are out there on the keyboards. Giving a presentation takes a bit of effort, but can you think of any worthwhile endeavor that doesn't? And a bit of effort is all the rest is just fun! There is still time to be included on our agenda for 1991, just e-mail a brief summary of what you'd like to talk about to sday@triton.unm.edu immediately (sorry, but NM DECUS is just around the corner!). The Program Committee will review all submissions and notify you as soon as possible. Please note that all speakers are required to pay the registration fee. Volunteers to serve as Session Chairs and in other capacities are also needed. Being involved helps establish lines of communication and provides awareness of what others in your field are doing with their systems. o The plan so far The Pre-Conference workshops for March 6 are in good shape, but the main conference schedule is wide open. We need topics that provide information for a variety of users, from ground zero beginners to advanced veteran administrators. Besides presentations, the 1991 conference will feature tours of DEC's Albuquerque facility during the March 6, 7, and 8 schedule. We will also feed you (luncheons every day), hold evening receptions, open a Conference store, and find room for a DEC exhibit area. This year's registration fee will be $95 for pre-registration and $125 after February 19; pre-conference workshops will be $100. If you're seeking information about the NM Regional Digital Equipment Corporation Users' Society (DECUS) Conference, check out our online conference information. Included in the online conference info are abstracts for the pre-conference workshops, who to contact on the conference committee for more detailed information and the scoop about what to do and what to see in New Mexico.
