Some while ago, when DEC offered the MicroVAX II upgrade program we bought two of the 3+ kits. One was recently applied to a MivroVAX II GPX and the second to a 1-8 user MicroVAX without graphics. The GPX works very well and I am quite pleased with the results. We have been having license problems with the second package, however. What we purchased was single user versions (the product 2T-KA655-UC) for both (we don't need the multiuser aspect and will be happy with a single-user limit for now on the MicroVAX). We were shipped what seems to be the same board for both along with the same license for both (QL-001AC-BB). This license has an availability code of D which translates to a VMS Workstation. When the second machine, now identifying itself as a Server to f$getsyi("node_hwtype"), is booted it puts out the message "%LICENSE-E-NOAUTH, DEC VAX-VMS use is not authorized on this node." It seems that the license is not appropriate for the hardware. Advertising material implies that there is some "single user" license available for the VAXServer/MicroVAX which it now is. The LURT table indicates that such a machine needs an availability code of C, or better. Does anyone have a better understanding of this issue - perhaps even a part number for the license. DEC is still a bit foggy as to what is going on here. Indeed it must be that no-one has ever bought the part number that I ordered for anything other than a workstation.
