Have you ever wondered what all those columns of numbers that appear
on the console terminal mean when you've just executed your new program
in kernel mode? Now you can find out! Pat O'Malley of Digital's
Educational Services will be the speaker on VMS Crash Dump Analysis.
Pat can be best characterized as the Jay Leno of VMS so his talk promises
to be entertaining as well as informative. Unfortunately, because of
limited time, Pat will not be able to look at any crash dumps that
members bring with them.

This meeting is being held jointly by CRIMLUG, the Greater Boston VAX LUG,
and the 128 LUG so reserve your seat today! CRIMLUG members should RSVP
to Joe Barone at (401) 847-8000 x4054. Members of the other LUGs should
contact their respective Chairmen.

Directions to EUA:

From Providence, follow route 146 North to route 116 north. You will pass by
the Blackstone Valley Electric Company on your left, but you cannot turn there
at that time. Continue beyond it to any convenient left turn and backtrack
on 116 South to enter gate guard entrance. Follow the signs to the
"auditorium".

From Boston, follow route 295 South to route 122 South. Take a right at 116
South and follow to the Blackstone Valley Electric gate guard entrance. Follow
the signs to the "auditorium".

The May meeting will be an open forum on System & Network Management.
LUG experts in the fields of VMS Systems Management, Cluster
Management, & Unix Systems Management will give very brief introductions
regarding their areas of expertise and then will field
questions from the floor. Bring your hard questions and any
information you may have to pass on. It should be a very lively
meeting - don't miss it.

We plan to close the meeting with a review of the Spring DECUS Symposia
held earlier in May. If you are going to Atlanta, please come to the
meeting and share your findings.

The June meeting will have a new twist. It will be held in the Engineering
Computer Lab's student workstation room at URI. This meeting is for anyone
who has or has not worked on an Ultrix or a VMS workstation (did I leave
anyone out?). A brief introduction to the Desktop VMS user and management
environment, DECwindows, networking, Bookreader, and various other window
applications will be given by Steffanie Windus. An overview of Ultrix UWS
windows, window applications, management and networking will be provided by
Karen Wimmer. A look at the connectivity between Ultrix and VMS at this level
will be demonstrated, and participants will have the opportunity to login to
one of the 20 available VAXstation 3100s, experiment, and ask questions.
Don't miss this chance to get hands-on access to VAX workstation technology.
