I am currently trying the get the latest version of Kermit working on one of our company MAC's. I was working on it for several hours yesterday, trying all of the different ways suggested by the Kermit manual. I have given up, at least for a while, because I don't have the correct tools to do the job. Could some one please E-mail me either the Binaries for the latest Kermit, in a format that could be understood by BinHex V2, or the binaries for BinHex V4, also in a format that could be understood by BinHex V2. (In case you haven't noticed, I only have V2.) Could you also give me fairly detailed instructions on how to decode/make work the files that you send me, as I am a fairly new at using the MAC. There is a known problem with 0.8(34) if the other end is adding EVEN parity. Evidently when the Kermit people decided to keep the SCC in 8-bit mode all the time, they missed one place where an "and" with 0177 should have been added. This is in the test for "end of packet" character. If your host sends EVEN parity AND Linefeeds with its carriage returns, you can change "end of packet" from Carriage Return (13) to Linefeed (10) which has the correct parity not to have the parity bit set. I tried setting "end of packet" to 0215 but Kermit is too smart for that. -- umd5.UUCP <= {seismo!umcp-cs,ihnp4!rlgvax}!cvl!umd5!zben Ben Cranston zben @ umd2.UMD.EDU Kingdom of Merryland Sperrows 1100/92 umd2.BITNET "via HASP with RSCS"
