Without messing up the plot, I can tell you that a Macintosh made a cameo appearance with Scotty. The user interface looked somehow different than a normal mac, however it seemed to respond correctly to verbal commands. Check out the movie for more details. p.s. I have to admit Scotty is the fastest hunt-and-peck typist I've ever seen. I thought it was also interesting that he didn't use the mouse at all (i.e. the scene wouldn't have looked as 'fast' if he had). -Matt

The mouse is no good for random input totally un- connected to screen displays--after all, you can only use one hand and one finger, not two hands and ten fingers :-). On another note, I wonder why they went to the trouble of faking a display? Was it an aesthetic, technical, or (shudder) licensing problem? Steve dorner@uxc.cso.uiuc.edu
