In talking with Andy at the Expo and with what he said at the three panel discussions he was a part of he said a new release of Servant would be out in February that would allow file transfer and another on out in April that would be a "fairly stabe release." He indicated that Servant would go out in the end for free and that he would not support it. He said it was an experi- ment! Apple has non-exclusive rights to the source and they are looking at it and incorporating whatever parts of it the wish to. I asked him what he thought of Apples version (a new finder) and he said it was "ok" but that Apple is doing thing by committee now and were being very cautious. I thought perhaps the fancy file transfer that Andy will do in Servant would be the finale but he said it would be the "Scripting" that would be great. It appears you will be able to creat a script and it will appear as an icon and you will just double click on the icon to execute the script. He said about the file transfer that you would be able to specify what file type and size range and very carefully select what you wanted to copy. Apparently a large number of people want to see scroll bars come back and so he will have an option for them. He seemed very excited to get started on his next project which he wouldn't elaborate on which he would begin in the summer. He also sounded excited about the new software that Bill Atkinson was working on which he only hinted about. He hinted that it was kind of in the same area as "Guide", or hyper text. Hyper text for those of you who may not know is kind of like a three dimensional text. You double click on a word and it expands out to a more full explaination.
