I have an Apple SCSI HD20 for some time now and (a part from the noise) I am quite happy with it. However recently I go very nervous because a few times the Drive would not start. It appears that the normal internal boot- procedure (or whatever it is called) does not take place because I don't hear the sound of the moving (repositioning?) of the head. Normally there will be a beep-beep a few seconds after turning the power on and then everything works fine. I have the impression that it might have to do with a low temperature (which is not really cold= 17 C.) but that might just be coincidence. Until now the drive would boot normal after a few trials (and when the temperature was somewhat higher?) but this is ruining my nerves. Is there another soul with similar problems? Or even better with a hint about the cause? Dick Bierman UUCP: ....mcvax!uvapsy!bierman
