My Lo-DOWN 20 Meg SCSI died the other day! I switched it on and it gave a squeak and that was that. Of course it was out of warranty, and of course the whole disk unit had to be replaced and of course I lost all the data (except that I had backed it all up about a week earlier, so that was not too bad.) But dealing with Lo-DOWN was very difficult. They assigned me an RMA number and I shipped the disk to them Federal Express. They got it on Tuesday. I called to make sure that it had arrived and to find out how much it was going to cost. To cut a long story short, they said that it was shipped on Friday and I paid them with a credit card. When it didn't arrive by the next Wed (yesterday) I called them. They said that it could not be repaired because it was out of warranty!? I told them that they knew that and that I had paid them for it already. Oh yes, then it must've been repaired and sent. About two hours later the same woman called me to tell me that they had repaired my disk and that it would be sent that afternoon?! She did not seem to realise that I was the person she had spoken to earlier. Maybe us folks on the East Coast are just in too much of a hurry? Anyway, its Thursday, so I hope that it arrives today. The moral of the story? I don't know, maybe something about the name of a company being a dead give away?
