Replace this line with your message I have just "inherited" a system consisting of a mac 512K (unenhanced, 64K Roms), a Davong 10MB Mac Disk (connected to the printer port), and a Laserwriter. Right now the system is running a system file dated May 2, 1984, Finder 4.1, and Davong Volume Manager version 1.1. Question: with this hardware, what versions of the software SHOULD I be running right now? Is it okay to use the latest versions of the laserwriter and laserprep files, even with the old system? What about the new desk accessories, like key caps? Can I run a hierarchical file system while using the old ROMS on the Davong? Suppose I upgrade to either a Mac+ or Enhanced. Can the Davong still be made to work, and if so, how do I contact Davong to get the upgrade software (if necessary)? I would really appreciate hearing from users with a similar configuration (or just plain knowledgable). Please mail directly to me, it is difficult for me to access news. ---- Henry Kautz :uucp: allegra!kautz :mail: AT&T Bell Laboratories Room 3C-433 600 Mountain Ave. Murray Hill, N.J. 07974 :office phone: (201) 582-2815 -- ---- Henry Kautz :uucp: allegra!kautz :mail: AT&T Bell Laboratories Room 3C-433 600 Mountain Ave. Murray Hill, N.J. 07974 :office phone: (201) 582-2815 :home address: 155 Woodland Ave. Summit, N.J. 07901 :home phone: (201) 277-2737
