MacPascal V2.0 can now save a program as an application that can be
run (in conjunction with PSHELL) from the desktop by double clicking.
My question is about creating an icon for this application. When
I saved my program from inside MacPascal, the program had the same
icon as the MacPascal application. When I looked at it with
ResEdit, however, no ICN# resource was listed! If I copy the program
application to another disk, it has the generic application icon, but
returns to the MacPascal icon when I move it back to the original
Pascal disk. No attempt at creating a new icon with ResEdit was
successful in replacing the MacPascal icon with my own, but I must
admit to being a novice ResEdit user.
So, can
(1) someone explain to me what might be the problem here and how to
create my own application icon when I save a MacPascal program
as an application.
(2) explain the general principal on how the finder knows what icons
to use for applications and documents. I could not figure out
any relationship between the ID number of an icon in ICN# in
the desktop and the corresponding icon in ICN# in the
application.
Thanks.
