I'm looking for info/tips/products that would help me transfer work between Macintosh systems and IBM-PC's. I have previously surveyed LAN possibilities that accomodate both and I'm aware of most of the various telecommunications software available for both machines. What I'm trying to get at is the problem of converting various IBM based word processors (such as Wordstar and Wordperfect) to MacWrite etc. on the Mac side. Also, for spreadsheets and graphics data, etc. I relalise there must be some hard limitations due to the hardware differences, etc. between the two systems but I would expec there to be some useful products available in this area. Also, I know that Microsoft Word and a few other programs exist in both the Mac and PC worlds... are their files compatible once transferred? BTW, I'm also aware of "MacCharlie" and similar products. I assume there must be something to read Mac disks on a suitablely equiped PC. But this still leaves one with problems at the software level. Thanks for any help. -- John Wright ////////////////// Phone: 902-424-3805 or 902-424-6527 Post: c/o Dr Pat Lane, Biology Dept, Dalhousie U, Halifax N.S., CANADA B3H-4H8 Ean/Bitnet: lane@cs.dal.cdn Arpa: lane%cs.dal.cdb%ubc.csnet@csnet-relay.arpa Uucp:{seismo, watmath, utai, garfield}!dalcs!lane Csnet:lane%cs.dal.cdn@ubc.csnet
