In reply to Mike Newman and others asking about Kanji on the Macintosh: Kanji Talk is a software interface and the fonts that make it possible to easily handle Japanese language input on the Macintosh. It is part of a new manager called the Script Manager (scripts are writing systems), which is designed to handle all writing systems. Apple has released script manager interfaces for Kanji (Japanese) and Arabic. Development is under way on Chinese, Hebrew, and various Indian languages. At present only the Kanji interface is available from Apple Computer Software Licensing. If you are interested in getting it, contact Donna Reed-Tyacke. Here address is as follows: Donna Reed-Tyacke Software Licensing Apple Computer, Inc. 20525 Mariani Avenue, MS: 28B Cupertino, CA 95014 408-973-3053 or 408-973-4667 The cost of licensing Kanji Talk is $50.00 a year, but that entitles you to all updates and allows you to include Kanji Talk with a product. In addition, we hope to make the Script Manager, its documentation, and each of the Script Interfaces (Kanji, Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, etc) available through APDA (the Apple Programmer's and Developer's Association). If you are not a member of APDA, please join. This is THE SOURCE for all Apple developer information. -- Jordan Mattson UUCP: ucbvax!mtxinu!apple!jordan Apple Computer, Inc.
