We are currently trying to decide on the "best" means of building a network of macs that can also interface with our uVAX running Ultrix. The uVAX has ethernet available. One option is to have an independent file server for the macs, another is to put a big disk on the uVAX and use part of it as a file server. It must be possible to send mail both through the mac net and up and down to the uVAX. It must be possible to use a mac on the net as an (intelli- gent) terminal to the uVAX. Further, you may assume that the uVAX is "DecNetted" to larger VAX systems, and that it is therefor desirable that the mac be able to act as a terminal on this net as well (which should be OK, if it can act as a terminal on the uVAX, but it would be better if the mac could appear as a node on the network) It is possible that the macs could actually be one of the new machines that apple is coming out with, but since I haven't seen an "official" description, or *pricing*, that is still to be determined (If you know the offical description, or pricing, send it along !). I am woefully ignorant of what is currently available in this area for macs. Any help, advice, comments, or recommendations you have is solicted and will be appreciated (That's almost as good as a license to steal, isn't it ? :-) ).
