Awhile back there was a poor recommendation out of MIT for the MacSnap memory upgrades. The folks at Dove say they have fixed the earlier problems and they now have a good product (not that they admitted it was bad before). Since I have a Hyperdrive in my 512KE, most of the memory upgrades around will not fit, leaving Dove and MacDoctor. I would get the MacDoctor upgrade but is as yet only promised and not available. I'm curious if any has gotten the Dove product recently and what their experience was. Cliff P.S. Having submitted articles in the past with absoutely no response, I suspect that my postings are not getting past unmvax. So, if a few of you wouldn't mind, please reply (email) just to let me know you've seen this. Thanks. -- Cliff Loucks cmcl2!lanl!unm-la!unmvax!sandia!intvax!loucks Sandia National Labortories, Albuquerque, New Mexico

I have a 512k w/internal 20MB hyper, rom and disk upgrade. I recently added the dove 2Mb option. The local service man was highly sceptical about putting the upgrade in (no room). But he talked to dove and they appeared to put his concerns to rest, as he called back and said he'd try.... He did put it in, and I have had no problems. I have been running with the upgrade for just over a month. I do run a Kensington system save mac, but had this prior to the dove upgrade. -- Jim McHale,WA1QOS Howtek Inc decvax!howtek!jpm 21 Park Ave jpm@howtek.com Hudson, NH 03051 603-882-5200

I saw in an Icon Review ad that Dove offers their board with connectors but no chips (MacWorld, March(?) '87), but Dove's ad in Mac User (also March, I believe) doesn't mention it. The shapes and chip-counts in the pictures in the two ads were slightly different - fewer chips in Dove's ad and no apparent connector, perhaps because Icon Review showed 512K kits and Dove showed Plus kits - which leads to my questions: 1) Is the Dove memory enhancement available as a raw board with parts list and instructions? 2) Is it available as such for the MacPlus? 3) What chips are called for in each of its guises (2M, 2M CMOS, 4M CMOS)? 4) Has anyone ordered/installed it successfully as a kit, especially in a Plus or Hyperdriven Plus?
