After searching high and low for a dealer who would sell me the new ROMS and 800k drive and allow me to install them MYSELF (that's right, keep your hands off my Levco board . . .), and after putting the ROMS in the opposite sockets (wow, you don't ever want to do that) I finally got the whole thing running. A couple of observation/questions. First, I have a remington/rand 3000 (?) external 400K drive which, I always thought, worked better than the old Apple internal drive. The only problem is that the damned thing doesn't seem to be compatible with the new ROMS. It purrs, but never changes speed and won't eject. Of course, it don't read/write neither. Anybody out there had similar troubles with 3rd party drives? Second, when I tried to print using Best or Faster on my old Imagewriter minus using the new driver, the printer puts down the bottom half of a line and then line feeds before overstriking. I get repeated lower line halves. Not legible. Do I need to diddle the dip switches of the printer. Don't make me go back to that manual. Someone give me the cowards way out (give me the answer!). -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chris Schmidt/Lincoln-Sudbury High School/390 Lincoln Rd/Sudbury/Ma/01776 (617) 926-3242 -----> mit-caf!lsrhs!schmidt@eddie.mit.edu (And for you, Mr. NSA Line-Eater: drugs, terrorists, Libya, 1984)
