I really hate the way patterns are used to do linestyles in Macdraw. This scheme doesn't even work all that well with an Imagewriter, and with the Laserwriter it's worse than useless and unbelievably ugly. I really think what people really want are dashed lines and arcs, not bad approximations, which is about all that's possible now. Postscript is certainly capable of defining all the linestyles one could want. Is there any hope that Macdraw will ever support such things? I love that program but it seems to be getting worse, not better. I suppose I should just go out and buy one of these Postscript-based drawing programs. Even solutions that used to work (using the various grids and checkerboards to get dashed lines on the Imagewriter, at least as long as the lines were horizontal or vertical) fail miserably on the Laserwriter, and what's worse, you don't know until you print it out how awful it'll look. Anybody else have any suggestions? I suppose I could edit the Postscript manually, but that's kind of awful. Mike Caplinger mike@bellcore.com {decvax,ihnp4}!thumper!mike
