Does this bad record apply to the Hyper FX (SCSI external) drives as well? I have been considering buying one Real Soon Now (until I saw this latest batch of messages in comp.sys.mac). I thought that they had fixed their problems. btw, I have seen plenty of Hard Disk reviews in terms of speed, has anyone reviewed them in terms of Reliability? -- ---- University of Toronto Computing Services Warren Bell UUCP: {cbosgd,ihnp4,utai,utcsri,utzoo}!utgpu!wbell Internet: wbell@gpu.utcs.toronto.edu BITNET: wbell at utoronto, wbell at utorgpu "Eh? While I didn't see the original post, allow me to say this. We have (had) a large number of HyperDrives here, and we enjoyed (!!) about a 60% failure rate. These are the old HyperDrives (1.0 hardware) on regular 512K Macs. However, when we installed fans on the HII%Y+machines all of the problems went away. Right now, I have a HyperDrive (2.0 hardware) ond with a Fanny Mac fan, and it works *perfectly*. No Problems. --Rich Richard Siegel NASA/Langley Research Center Materials Characterization Instrumentation Section Hampton Virginia 23665
