= I haven't yet had occasion to try using very long footnotes, but = the MS Word 3.0 manual seems to indicate that these are handled better = than in version 1.05, which would keep all the lines of a very long footnote = together on a page with its corresponding footnote reference mark. = = From page 60 of the manual: = = "Word prints a short line between text and footnotes. For footnotes = that carry over to the next page, word prints a margin-to-margin line = between the text and the remainder of the footnote. You can change either = of these separators. You can also specify a continuation notice for Word = to include with footnotes that are too long and carry over to the next page." = = Aron Roberts Tolman Microcomputer Facility = csaron@opal.Berkeley.EDU CSARON@UCBCMSA.BITNET _________________ = I assume that the notorious Word 1.05 footnote bug referred to in an = earlier posting is the problem with printing long footnotes (which seem = to totally mess up printing). Is this indeed fixed in 3.0, or does someone = know a work-around for this problem? We have had to advise everyone to = use WriteNow in the mean-time, which works fine with footnotes. = Maurits (teiltje@u2.dartmouth.edu) And thus, so far, no definitive YES as to whether long footnotes are still a problem in Word 3.0. Sounds like it has enough other problems that I won't touch it with a 3 meter pole until 3.0.0.0.1 or later. Jeff Myers
