Maybe I've missed it before, but PacTel InfoSystems ( the business marketing arm of the west coast chunk of the AT&T breakup) is now an Apple Dealer. On page 5 of the Business Section (Part IV) of the today's L.A. Times there is a 2/3 page ad for the Mac SE. Their advertised price seemed a bit high to me: Mac SE, ImageWriterII, MS Excel & Word, 1 800K & int 20meg drives, 10 diskettes, surge protector, training, and a one year service contract leases for $190.41/month for 3 years, plus tax, shipping, and handling charges. At 15% per annum, that's a present value of $5500. Still, PacTel may have marketing muscle and connections in business that Apple has lacked in the past. -- Dan Graifer graifer@net1.UCSD.EDU Disclaimer: Nobody ever listens to me anyways; Why should they start now?

And claimed it was a good deal. :-) Seriously, their price is quite in line with what any value added computer services dealer would charge for a comparable piece of equipment. The value added in this case may not be software or anything like that, but the assurance to a customer that if the Mac croaks, there'll be another in place operating within 'X' hours. -- Room for growth: +==== Jim Budler ==== Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. ==== (408) 749-5806 ====+ | Compuserve: 72415,1200; Delphi: JIMBUDLER; Usenet: jimb@amdcad.AMD.COM | +=== Disclaimer: My company wouldn't let ME speak for them, would they? ===+
