It it possible for someone receiving UUCP on a VAX/4.3BSD system to access the Info-Mac archives. I've seen lots of references to lots of interesting software in these archives, but I have been told that we do not have access to them at our site. If there isn't any way to access the files, it seems to me that it would be sensible to post the binaries in the Info-Mac archives to mod.mac.binaries. I get what I can from there now, but it doesn't seem to be anywhere near the amount of software that's mentioned in the Info-Mac archives. I'd appreciate any help the net-experts out there can give me. When I offered a way to access SUMEX-AIM's INFO-MAC archives a coupla weeks ago, I also included the disclaimer that it probably wouldn't work. But now, there is an alternative (for all of you hooked into BITNET anyway). Our glorious node, PUCC, is offering its own archive of stuff from INFO-MAC and is relatively up to date. Just TELL MACSERVE AT PUCC DIR and you're on your way. I've been plundering it for about a month now and am having the time of my life. I'm like a kid with a gold card in a candy store. You can be too. Let me know how it works out. (Also: non-BITNETters: try it, does it work for you? Let me know.) xxxoooxxx ======================================================================== Michael Schmelzer, Assistant Minister of Information Retrieval BITNET: 6089247@PUCC UUCP: ...ALLEGRA!PSUVAX1!PUCC.BITNET!6089247 or something like that.
