We will be setting up a lab of 15 or so Macintoshes this summer and would like to solicit information from other sites who have had some experience in this area. We will most likely be using the Janet network since it is designed for a university student environment, but that is not definite yet. Our main area of concern is printing. We are neither a large nor rich university, and cannot afford to provide unlimited paper supply to our users. We require that each user pay a per page cost for printing. On our present (old) CP/M TurboDOS network our printing programs keep a running count of pages printed and update an accounts file from which we compute a monthly bill. Is there anyway to do a similar sort of thing in a Macintosh network, particularly for the LaserWriter? Also, is there anyway to get a banner page added to each printout so it can be identified? I realize these questions are very network dependent, but if anybody has solved these problems elsewhere we would appreciate hearing from you. BTW, what is a good network for use in a university. We plan to use MAC SE's. UUCP: {seismo|watmath|utai|garfield}!dalcs!aucs!Paul BITNET: {Paul|phs}@Acadia Internet: {Paul|phs}%Acadia.BITNET@WISCVM.WISC.EDU PHONEnet: (902) 542-2201x587
