Here is a summary about a typeset-quality Font Editor for LW:
The same company (Altsys) that makes FONTastic also makes FONTographer,
which lets you do precisely as you wish -- you define a Postscript font
in terms of its edges, and Fontographer generates the bitmapped fonts
to go with it for screen display (Show you a screen font in gray as
a first guess, generate screen fonts from your work...)
It's fantastic, and pretty expensive -- $495, if I remember correctly.
It is copy-protected.
Siegel, Needham, Olson, Oster, and Dorner gave me useful information.
