Thanks to Tom Lane ("zog" ??!) for the clarification about caching and LSP. I think I'll turn mine off and save the memory. Now then.. I've received various kinds of complaints about mthe message ID's attached to my messages. I complained to the software maintainers, and as a result I am now using an experimental (see below) version of the message system, which supposedly uses shorter ID's. Hopefully, this makes everyone's life a little easier... "Experimental"... when an Andrew software maintainer says "experimental", it's really "experimental ** 2", since Andrew is an experimental system, running on experimental (and now discontinued) computers (the IBM RT)./ Nuf Sed.. --Rich

Perhaps you're refering to the machine being totally revamped.. The RT can now perform 1.6Mflops and has much better graphics environment. /Carl
