Definition of a Kludge: The *&^$%*&^$*^ Installer.
Why is it that this program insists on transferring everything one byte at
a time? This isn't a problem if you have two double-sided disk drives but try
doing an installation with one disk drive. 15 swaps to see if there is enough
room to install (which there was so make that 15 pointless swaps), and then
115 swaps to finally install (sys 3.3 and appleshare on a 5.3/3.2 disk).
And of course you cant stop in the middle without screwing up the original
disk! Arrgh!
Not only that the update script insists on having the calculator, alarm clock
and scrapbook da's installed in order to do an installation. While this is a
minor point, it means that I need a special installer disk rather then just
the installer script and program. Try to get appleshare, 5.4/3.3, and a
laserwriter installer on a single sided disk!
Sigh.... Well, I feel better now anyway.
