I finally wasn't going to take it any more. Every time Mac in case, Mac doesn't work. Pry on switches, start again, works. Solution: 1) Take programmer (Reset, Interrupt) switch device off. 2) notice the six nubs, which hold the switch on by expansion against the slots of the case: (where are graphics, when you need them...) ----- ----- ----- <--- this is a nub |---|-----------|---|-----------|---| ------------------------------------- -------- -------- -------- -------- ------------------------------------- |---|-----------|---|-----------|---| ----- ----- ----- 3) Scrape a screwdriver blade along each nub, until it's less protruding than before. The plastic's soft enough, and this way you won't get cut, or dig deep suddenly and do damage.... 4) I would try it a little at a time -- carefully brushing off any crumbs (so's they don't end up in your disk drive), and reinstalling the switch. You want the switch buttons to spring back freely when depressed, but not to take off so much from the nubs that the assembly falls out. I ended up with the nubs about 1/3 to 1/2 as thick. 5) This last is optional. I thought the switches were too nearly activated with no pressure on the buttons. So I took a pair of office scissors (large kind), and snipped about half a millimeter (.05 in; 50 thousandths, a smidge) off the ends of the blades which stick down from the buttons to do the activation. The results are pleasing. No false deads. Crisp activations when I need them (you program a Mac, and don't? Sign up right here...). I wonder if the plastic in my Plus-ized new case is a little softer than the original, and thus the nubs moved the slot louvers a little farther than designed, since it seems to be a generic problem, judging by net traffic. No idea what this does to your warranty. Clive Steward
