Several weeks ago it was pointed out that the top drive in the Mac SE seemed to perform slower than the bottom drive. Everyone verified this and the reason seemed to be a 'software problem' that would be easily fixed in the next release. I give the following timings from a 2 drive Mac SE. System that came with the machine, System 4.0 Top drive time to boot: 24.7s 24.7s Bottom drive time: 17.8s 17.8s The new Universal System, System 4.1 Top drive time to boot: 41.4s 41.2s Bottom drive time: 28.7s 28.6s Is the new system really THAT much bigger? I guess there will need to be another System/Finder release to fix these 'software problems'.
