Hello: I am looking for network products (hardware & software) that will link 10-20 Mac's to a 100-200Mbyte file server. The performance must be fairly high (ie. ethernet-like rates as opposed to apple- talk) and I would like the "Mac environment" preserved throughout the system. Does "Apple-share" address any of this? Any tips & information gratefully recieved. Please respond by mail as I may not see it in the news. -- John Wright ////////////////// Phone: 902-424-3805 or 902-424-6527 Post: c/o Dr Pat Lane, Biology Dept, Dalhousie U, Halifax N.S., CANADA B3H-4H8 Ean/Bitnet: lane@cs.dal.cdn Arpa: lane%cs.dal.cdb%ubc.csnet@csnet-relay.arpa Uucp:{seismo, watmath, utai, garfield}!dalcs!lane Csnet:lane%cs.dal.cdn@ubc.csnet

I believe the plan is to have Appletalk protocols running directly on Ethernet - as long as all of your machine use reasonably standard Ethernet controllers, it should work (in the future). Note: in the recent Mac II announcement blizzard, there was an Apple Ethernet card, available also from 3com, and 3com is doing a version for the SE. -- Reed College -- Portland, Oregon -- 503/774-9192
